Echuca B&B - Hodgson House

In the winter, why try fishing for Murray Crays. Though we offer a Murray Cray package, a number of guests just like the idea of being able to join Murray River Fishing Tours for a couple of hours on the river - it's different and a wonderful way to see the Port in a small boat.

We'd also recommend a riverside campfire on fine winter's afternoon. Allen will the set the fire up for you and when it gets dark you can retreat back into the warmth of the house and enjoy the open fire! If you going to have a campfire, ask Anne to get some potatoes for you - cooked in foil on the open fire and then served with lashes of butter - a lovely way to enjoy a winter's afternoon by the Murray River!

What's On in Echuca

Echuca is always a wonderful place to visit with the historic Port of Echuca precinct, fabulous restaurants, cafes and a great range of boutique gift shop shops.

There are times however, when Echuca comes alive and on these special occasions you should book well in advance - with only two rooms offering privacy and discretion Hodgson House is often booked early - so please to avoid disappointing your loved one don't delay. Book by EMAIL or call Anne on 5482 2128 to talk about your needs, she'll organise a booking to meet your needs and have everything arranged for when you arrive.

Southern 80 Ski Race

Second weekend in February. This 80km ski race sees speedboats towing two skiers from Torrumbarry to Victoria Park. Though only 20km by road this race follows the mighty Murray passing by Hodgson House, you have a great view of a sweeping turn as the boats power by at over 100mph. It's a weekend for revheads and very noisy but for those who love it - Hodgson House is an ideal place to stay. Echuca Jazz, Food & Wine festival

Third weekend in February . This weekend of good taste restores Echuca after frenetic events of the Southern 80. Jazz bands board paddlesteamers on the Friday night. The Echuca Aquatic Reserve is the scene for a main event Jazz concert under the starts and redgums on the Saturday night. While Sunday sees the Aquatic Reserve host a magnificent jazz, food and wine picnic. If coming to Echuca, book the 3 nights - you'll be so pleased you did!

Echuca Cup Weekend

March (Labour Day Weekend) The gates fly open for the running of the Echuca Cup on the Sunday. The Echuca races are a two-day affair with the Saturday being for more serious punters while Sunday is fun day for everyone. Fashions on the field, food and entertainment is all there on the Sunday.

Easter in Echuca

The last big holiday weekend before the onset of the winter. The pool is still warm and the weather is beautiful. Golf at Rich River and the Echuca Back9 (The YMCA's public golf course) is always enjoyable and there is an Easter sailpast and fireworks at the Port on Sunday night. You need to book early and ask us to arrange restaurant and sailpast bookings for your enjoyment.

Echuca Steam Rally

June (Queens Birthday weekend) sees Echuca's heritage proudly displayed with a wonderful Steam Rally on the Saturday and Sunday. The weather is not always perfect but Hodgson House has it open fire in the guest lounge, complimentary port and a warm welcome. If the weather's fine, you can sit by a campfire at the river and enjoy the stars and afterwards come home and enjoy a complimentary port next to the open fire!
