Fly to Echuca by Aus-Air

Hodgson House has joined Aus-Air in offering a unique and romantic way for one or two couples to see two of Australia's icons over 2 days.

The Long Paddock follows the Cobb Highway between Echuca-Moama and Wilcania telling the stories of pioneer drovers and their history. If you choose to follow the route by car there are interpretive panels along the way and you'll certain get an appreciation for this important stock route that fed the diggers during Victoria's gold rush days of the 1850's.

Echuca was founded by Henry Hopwood who recognised the strategic location as a crossing on the mighty Murray River being the closest point the Murray comes to Melbourne. It's the same reason the paddlesteamers came to Echuca bringing produce down the Darling for shipment to Melbourne.

Leave Melbourne from Moorabbin airport for the one hour flight to Echuca where you will be picked up and taken for breakfast in the heritage area  of Echuca.  After a delicious breakfast, you take a tour of the Port of Echuca and board a paddlesteamer which takes you to Morrisons Winery on the banks of the Murray River for lunch.  After a leisurely lunch, you return to Echuca by paddlesteamer where you are picked picked up and taken to Hodgson House, Echuca's B&B on the Murray.  A complimentary bottle of Cape Horn wine awaits you on arrival.  Relax and enjoy the serenity of the River, in the summer enjoy the heated pool or in the winter may be choose to sit by an open campfire by the river.  Forget about the big city for a while.

Anne from Hodgson House will arrange a restaurant booking for dinner and you will dropped into the restaurant of your choice at your leisure.  Catch a taxi back to Hodgson House (a 3 km trip) and enjoy a port and chocolates before retiring for the night.

In the morning, enjoy a delicious, country breakfast at Hodgson House before being dropped at the airport for the second day of your tour.  Aus-Air will fly you along the mighty Murray River where you will see sweeping bends and great Murray River red gum forests.  After the Murray comes the Long Paddock with a flight to Deniliquin where you stop for lunch.

Re-board your Aus-Air flight for the homeward trip to Melbourne arriving late afternoon.
