A visit to Echuca, staying at Hodgson House, gives an international guest an opportunity to experience the best Australia has to offer, you'll be made very welcome and feel at home! You actually stay in our home and we love to chat with our guests about their lives and stories - every one is different and special! Paddlesteamers and the historic Port of Echuca have made Echuca famous throughout the world yet it was Echuca's location - the closest point the Murray comes to Melbourne - that saw the town established in the 1850's by Henry Hopwood. Today, visitors to Echuca can ride a paddlesteamer, walk through the Port area and gain through a sense of history how Australia must have been like in its pioneer days. At Hodgson House, guests can enjoy a 3.5 kilometre river track which leads to the historic Port and return home to help feed the family of kookaburras that arrive each night from Wharparilla Flora Reserve. During the walk, guests may be lucky enough to see kangaroos and other fauna while enjoying the mighty river redgums along the track.
