Murray River Red Gums are our garden!
We've also planted some 400 native trees and bushes along the boundary of the property and of course, we are nestled next to Wharparilla Flora Reserve with its abundant red gums. With the ongoing drought, Anne's decided that the lawn at the back of the house is not going to work - it was always going to be a challenge to grow it there with our wonderful gums soaking up any spare water - so, we've landscaped a native garden which will be attractive for birds and provide our guests with a flash of colour during the year. A garden highlight is a redgum seat (from artisans at the Port of Echuca) where guests can sit and look down to the river through the forest or simply watch the birdlife darting around the gardens. It's too early for photos but for our many friends who have visited us and keep in touch through our website, as soon as Anne gets the garden in shape, we'll add a photo here. Included in this project was the installation of a 10,000 litre rainwater tank to supplement our water rights from the Murray River.
If you are into gardening, Anne would love to spend some time with you explaining the layout she has achieved and the work she loves to put in. Come and see our unique Australian garden - it's very special to us! Call Anne on 5482 2128 to discuss your booking needs. |
