At Hodgson House Echuca's B&B on the Murray River, we recognize that some of our guests want an intimate dinner “in-house” for that very special occasion or celebration and to enjoy all the ambiance that the Murray River and forest offers.  For this reason Hodgson House has engaged talented local chef, Ben Osmond to prepare a meal using local Murray River produce that will tantalise the taste buds.  A quick look at Ben’s menu and you will understand why we have asked this exciting young chef to prepare a meal we are proud to identify with.

 

Appetizer

 

Bruschetta covered with pumpkin, semi-dried tomato, spinach & goats cheese.

 

 

Main course (served with ciabatta bread).

 

Possibly the icon dish of Murray River produce is Murray Cod. Little wonder, that Ben chose :

 

Lightly grilledfresh Murray Cod stained with coriander, lemon zest & a light tomato chili infusion, served on a celeric mash

 

to be his preferred main course

 

Or, for those with a penchant for beef,

 

Grain-fed eye fillet, wrapped in prosciutto, served on a bed of garlic & parmesan mash & broccolinni with a red wine jus.

 

Or, for those who love their poultry,

 

Poached chicken breast stuffed with avocado, prosciutto and brie. Served on a sweet potato mash & fresh buttered green beans with a creamy seeded mustard sauce.

 

Desert

 

What better way than to finish the formal meal than:

 

Murray mud cake served with thick, rich, creamy ice cream and garden liquored berries.

 

For afterwards

 

Locally produced cheese platter of 4 cheeses accompanied by cracked pepper wafers and dried apricots soaked in port.

 

Ben only selects the finest local produce for the main courses, so we need to know what dish you will want served with dinner on the night.  Our recommendation, if you enjoy seafood, choose the Murray Cod, the landmark dish of the region.
